Notes

Barsham and Shipmeadow Village Hall was once the village school and following its closure was bought for the village by a local resident and donated for use as a village hall for the community. At present it is undergoing refurbishment.  A new indoor toilet block and disabled entrance was completed in July 2020 to replace the old outdoor toilets and entrance lobby. This now allows us to accommodate children's groups as well as allowing older people and those with mobility issues to use the hall more comfortably. Moving forward we are planning to repair and replace the Victorian classroom partitions which are an integral part of the hall and its history.  The interior and exterior will be repaired and decorated as soon as the weather allows. We are also planning to install infra red heating and led lighting in the main hall as we have already done in the kitchen and new toilet block. These measures will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of the hall.  We are also planning to refurbish the kitchen and insulate the loft space above the kitchen and replace the chairs and tables.  Finally we are planning to provide improved parking facilities in the paddock to allow safe parking off the road and easy access to the hall.  As well as fundraising from grant funding the local community have raised in excess of £6,000.00. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

Although the plans we have may cause some disruption the hall will remain open for use once the Covid restrictions are lifted. We hope to see you there.

We run a 100+ club each year which costs £1.00 per month for each number and is open to all. Half of the total subscriptions are used for the monthly prize fund and a Christmas prize, and the other half is used for the day to day maintenance and running costs of the hall.
