Ormiston Families supports children, young people and their families to manage the challenges they face and improve their life chances. Our vision is that “every child and young person is loved, nurtured and valued”: anything less is not acceptable. Our values are the starting point for everything we do and you will see them reflected in how we approach our work.
As a charity we have over 30 years’ experience in accessing and supporting those families that are seen as “hard to reach”. This includes Gypsy and Traveller communities, families affected by imprisonment, mental health and wellbeing and victims of domestic abuse. We are seen as an impartial face and this often gives us the flexibility to engage effectively with parents from a position that is trusted.
Ormiston Families works with families in the East of England. We run four core programmes to ensure the best possible outcomes for children in the areas in which we operate. The Nurture programme supports the development of children in their earliest years and primarily operates out of children’s centres; the Engage programme improves outcomes for young people in education and is mainly school based; the Unite programme works with the children and families of prisoners and the Connect programme promotes the well-being of individuals in their local communities.
