Support for people with disabilities

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Cliff Lane Primary School is an inclusive school. Quality First Teaching underpins all our work with children and pupil progress is closely monitored enabling planning for the needs of each child. A range of assessments are used to identify pupil needs and interventions are delivered by teachers and Learning Support Assistants. TheHead of Inclusion has a Post graduate Diploma in Dyslexia and Literacy. Additional training is provided; recent training has included numicon (a mathematics intervention) manual handling (for assisting pupils with physical disablity) and VERP (Video Enhanced Reflective Practice for assessing pupils with emotional needs). A wide range of interventions are available including Dancing Bears (literacy), Gym Trail (physical needs) and Welcomm (speech and language). The school liaises with a range of outside agencies.
