Linton Chess Club
Linton is a thriving club south of Cambridge, serving South Cambridgeshire and the Saffron Walden and Haverhill areas of Essex and Suffolk. We have excellent modern premises with two rooms, one for matches and another for friendlies, analysis and refreshments.
The club currently has six teams in the three divisions of the Bury Area Chess League, catering for all standards of player. We also play in other local tournaments, including the East Anglian Club Championship, which we have won twice in recent years. A particular feature of our club is an enthusiastic junior section, with a number of players in the England junior squads.
As well as League matches Linton runs a club championship during the season (September to May) and holds special event evenings on free nights. Our members are also active chess organisers, running the Cambridgeshire Rapidplay and captaining County teams.
You’d be sure of a friendly welcome and opportunities to play and improve whatever your standard if you’d like to come to the club. We take a summer break but are open from the beginning of September to mid-May.
