U3A Bury St Edmunds

The Bury St Edmunds U3A is a self-help organisation of people who are no longer in full-time paid employment but are interested in staying physically, mentally and socially active.  There is no upper or lower age limit, and we are open to all.  We are a friendly bunch who enjoy learning new things and meeting new friends.  Members run their own groups and new ones are actively encouraged.  Our current annual subscription is £15.  Please see our website u3aburystedmunds.co.uk for more information and details of groups currently operating.

Membership includes:

  • A free monthly lecture from an outside speaker on a wide range of topics; it is held at the Apex on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. See website for more details.

  • Access to a wide range of Interest Groups which meet at times of their own choosing. Groups often hire a local venue, sometimes they meet in each others homes.  Most local venues now have level access for those members with mobility issues.

  • Trips and visits throughout the year - some offered by specific groups, some open to all members

  • A monthly email newsletter with the latest news keeping you in contact with our u3a

  • National monthly magazine
  • Volunteering opportunities within our u3a
