Ipswich Furniture Project
Our primary function is to relieve poverty by supplying a constant stream of affordable second-hand furniture and household goods to eligible Members. Eligibility is anyone referred to us by an approved agency, or anyone who self refers by providing proof they are on low income and are in receipt of an acceptable benefit. We normally accept that anyone in receipt of Council Tax benefit, which is paid to any householder, whether social, owned or rented, is on a low income.
We operate a retail outlet in St. Matthews Street within Ipswich town centre. The shop is open to the general public. Items are priced and sold to help towards our overheads. The additional income earned by the sale of items to the general public helps offset the higher cost of maintaining a central site. We can have between 15 and 40 customers each day, some requiring just a single item whereas others may need to furnish an entire home.
We collect donations of furniture and working electrical goods to pass on. We can be asked to deliver items anywhere in Suffolk, but will make a charge to cover our delivery costs, but we only normally collect items within a 15 mile radius of Ipswich, unless we are already visiting an area.

The Ipswich Furniture Project is a charitable organisation that collects furniture items (that adhere to fire regulations) which they pass on to low-income families for a nominal charge. They also collect redundant metal appliances such as fridges and cookers, that they then re-use and recycle for scrap metal. We also have a range of new items, appliances, beds etc., available to support agencies for them to supply to their clients. These can be fully installed if required.
