Ladybird Day Care - East Coast College Nurseries (OSC)

Out of School Care

Ladybird Day Care is situated within The Kirkley Children's Centre in South Lowestoft. The Nursery is open Monday to Friday 8.00-5.30pm and we are open all year round, except for bank holidays, 2 staff development days (usually one in February half term and one in October half term) and one week at Christmas. The Nursery was inspected by Ofsted in February 2017 and received an overall 'Good' grade with 'Outstanding' features. We have three play rooms for children aged 0-2 years, 2-3 years and 3-5 years. We have a dedicated team of staff and all children have access to a large and secure outside play area. Ladybird Day Care is one of three nurseries managed by East Coast College, the other two nurseries are based on the main college campus sites at Yarmouth and at Lowestoft.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Both the Lead and Deputy are accredited SENCO's for the setting. Lead SENCO has worked for the company for over 10 years.

All staff members hold qualifications some of which are level 6 trained in childcare and hold an EYTS. All staff are trained in first aid and some on Epi-pens and inhalers.

The setting has many years of experience with different levels and forms of SEN and base planning around ALL children's current interests and needs and can adapt provision where needed or possible.

Staff have regular input to IEP's, social interaction sessions and carry out any additional work provided by SALT. Some members are makaton trained and this is used in the setting alongside communication books.

Provision mapping for children with SEN is updated and modified regularly to adapt to children's level of progress and interests.

We have close links to all outside professionals and meetings are attended regularly to ensure the care of the children/child is at the highest level.

The setting works well to make reasonable adjustments to ensure the service we provide is accessible to children with disabilities.
