JumpstART! in Bury St Edmunds - creative activities for adults with learning disabilities

"The best things were standing on the stage and singing and dancing and conducting.”

“I’ve loved being on this course … everyone has been helping each other.”

JumpstART! is an arts training course for people with learning disabilities offering taster sessions, explore days and 15 week courses where students experience an in-depth exploration of an artform and the opportunity for personal development

Students taking part in JumpstART! courses learn new skills, gain confidence, experience working with professional artists and made visits to arts and cultural venues. The courses finish with an exhibition or performance where students get the exciting chance to show their work at a public event. JumpstART! courses run in Bury St Edmunds and Lowestoft and are planned for Ipswich. Each module focuses on one particular artform including illustration, dance, film making, photography, music and visual art

JumpstART! uses person-centred planning to identify progression routes for its students, it also offers advice and guidance to progress on to volunteering, work experience and further training.

There are also courses in Ipswich and Lowestoft.
