We understand it can be confusing to know who to contact if you have a question about the provision being made for your child. This page gives telephone numbers and email addresses for each team. You can also click on the titles to find out more information about what each team does.

Early Help

The Early Help Service is made up of teams of practitioners who work with families who have unmet needs which aren’t being met by other support. If you feel your child needs extra help because they have some unmet needs, you can choose to begin a common assessment framework, often referred to as a CAF. You can find out more about Early Help and the CAF process here.

Family Services Teams

For help with EHCP assessments, provision and annual reviews, please contact your local Family Services team.

Psychology & Therapeutic Services (P&TS)

The P&TS support emotional wellbeing, mental health and learning on an individual, group and whole school / organisational basis. You can contact them on 01473 264700 / psychology&therapeuticservices@suffolk.gov.uk

Social Care

Our social care teams visit and support children and young people within the community. If you need support from social care or are worried that a child or young person is at risk of harm, abuse or neglect, you can call Customer First on 0808 800 4005, or dial 999 in an emergency.

NHS based teams

Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT) 

NSFT offer mental health and learning disability services. You can find out general information about them by clicking the link above, or see below for details of the different teams.

Emotional Wellbeing Hub: to contact this team please call 0345 600 2090, or make an online referral here.

NSFT First Response Service: Outside of operating hours, you can access additional advice and support through the First Response Service on 0808 196 3494. Find out more about First Response here.

Mental Health Support Team:   This service supports children and young people with mild-moderate MH difficulties through time-limited intervention. Clinicians are based in schools and offer face-to-face and remote support. For more information, email MHST.East@nsft.nhs.uk / MHST.West@nsft.nhs.uk

Psychology in Schools Team: This team works in schools across Suffolk providing face-to-face support to students and support and training for staff: supporting school leadership teams with their mental health strategy and whole school approach to emotional wellbeing, improving links between health and education, providing workshops in schools to support students, and developing podcasts for parents on key issues. Under 18 Wellbeing Service: This team provides assessment and early intervention including individual therapy, group and online work for young people for generalised anxiety, worry, social/health anxiety, panic, phobias, OCD, low mood, depression and PTSD single trauma. Interventions are for a maximum of 12 weeks and may be directly with the young person or with their parent/carers. All assessments and consultations are currently virtual. Mental Health in Waveney: For mental health support in Waveney, please visit the Just One Norfolk website, call Point 1 on 0800 977 4077 (8am – 7pm) or email them on point1-support@ormistonfamilies.org.uk.

Integrated Community Paediatric Services (excluding Waveney)

(Includes the Paediatric Medical Service, Children's Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Audiology, Speech & Language Therapy, Community Nursing, Communication Aids and Child & Family Psychology teams.)

Services are operating as usual where possible but due to pandemic restrictions, access to some clinics and pathways is limited. Virtual assessment and advice is available when face to face contact is not possible. If you are already known to a team within this service, you should have received their contact details. However if you do not have these or are new to the Service, please contact St Helen's House on 01473 321200 (Ipswich) or Bury Child Health Centre on 01284 741700.
