Why Forest School?

Forest School is an approach to early years education, It values a child's basic ability to learn from the world around them. It gives children time to be free in a natural environment, to explore and discover their own interests. We support and encourage your child to develop a love and connection to our world. To be valued and part of our Preschool community.

Our Forest Preschool School offers children regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in woodland.

There are huge benefits from being outdoors and the effect it has on our physical and mental well-being. Being outside is hands-on science!  What better way to learn about our world than to smell, touch and feel it all around them.

We offer Child led exploring alongside offering some adult led activities and games, which develops their skills to care for themselves and their group. Children are given the freedom to explore and learn at their own speed, and in their own learning style. By letting them lead their own exploration, they are developing a sense of self-worth, self-confidence and independence and flourish in their own magical world of exploration.

We are all individuals and have different ways of learning. Forest School ethos understands this and uses many theories to support this practice.

What is my child learning?

They will learn social skills, connection with the very thing we all are learning about, our world. We follow the EYFS which is the framework set out by the government. Children learn and develop much faster in this type of environment. They can fully express themselves and be really listened to. We value every child's ideas and thoughts and use them to plan our sessions. Children develop well in all areas of learning. Come see for yourself!
