Little Leaders Childcare, Ipswich
Day nursery
We are a friendly, enthusiastic setting which offers the wow factor to all children who attend. The setting is now Curiosity Approach accredited and the first one to complete this in Ipswich. It is set up to have different areas of provision for children to enable the maximum learning potential through play. We incorporate loose parts and natural resources in our every day play, encouraging children's curiosity and wonder about the world around them. There is a large outdoor play area, and has a free flow feeling. All staff have at least a Level 3 qualification in childcare and have currents dbs, first aid and safeguarding training. We strive to invest in staff training so that we can continue to offer outstanding childcare for all children. We believe in a high adult to child ratio to ensure the children are getting the best out of their time with us.

- Notes
We are accredited in The Curiosity Approach, to point out our excellent practice and working with natural resources and Loose parts. We have been recommended on more than one occasion by parents as being a setting that offers a home from home like feel where their children feel safe and comfortable within their surroundings. In the baby room the staff complete daily diaries which informs parents what their child has been interested in, eaten, slept and nappy changes. This is accompanied by numerous pictures so parents can see what their children have been up to. In-depth handovers are completed at the end of sessions by the staff. We have a qualified Senco who supports children who require some additional support within the setting. We offer Forest schooling once a week for the preschool children who get the opportunity to go and explore the local woodlands and surrounding areas. We recognize the importance of ensuring all children are treated as equal and activities are made adaptable in order to be access for all children.

Support for people with disabilities
- Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities
Our belief is that our setting can cater for any child regardless of their additional needs. We strive to ensure that we alter our setting/practice where ever possible to enable inclusion to all. Our setting has low level displays and tables for easier access. We are a setting with one large room offering good areas of free space for children to negotiate around safely. We have suitable seating to offer extra support and use lots of different ways of communicating in the setting everyday with all children. We offer excellent parent partnership by the use of daily diaries and in-depth hand overs at the end of the sessions. Staff are always available for a chat if needed or a meeting can be arranged. We have one fully qualified SENCO and another member who is undertaking training currently. The SENCO works closely to support speech and language, positive behavior's, emotional support and wellbeing. The Senco is also trained to carry out the WELCOMM assessments. We strive to encourage all children to communicate their needs and help to understand their emotions. We aim to promote independence by offering a free flow approach encouraging the children to make their own choices and direct their own learning. At meal times we encourage the safe handling of cutlery and safety knives to cut and prepare their own snacks. The children are encouraged to scrape and wash their plates and glasses after use.
