Alderwood Academy

At Alderwood Academy we provide a two to three term full time education for children and young people aged between 7 and 14 years old, with the aim of supporting pupils to return to either mainstream education or other suitable education provision.

We focus on establishing high expectations for all our pupils by providing a safe and supportive environment and catering for the educational, social and emotional needs of each child.  At Alderwood Academy, we work within a restorative framework that is based upon building positive relationships and providing individual support to each and every child, in all aspects of their school experience.

Working very closely with local schools and other educational providers, allows us to ensure that supportive transition process is in place, enabling pupils to progress and reintegrate successfully and smoothly upon arrival and when leaving Alderwood Academy.

We are committed to ensure that the needs of young people are fully met, enabling them to leave us as healthy, confident young people, whilst benefiting from a positive and rewarding experience from which to build upon.

At Alderwood Acadmey, we place huge emphasis on a number of our core values.

We aim to provide an environment that provides happiness and fun, where everybody can flourish and achieve their aims.

Building positive relationships is a key to success.  It is the variety and talents of the skilled staff team that enable children to build positive relationships with adults and peers of all ages, cultures, abilities and social backgrounds.

Staff are committed to providing a safe environment for everybody to develop and grow as individuals, where all members of the Alderwood Academy community are listened to and their views are valued.

Effective learning is the right of every member of the Alderwood Academy community.  We will provide opportunities that do not discriminate and values the differences between all.

There should always be time to reflect and evaluate on the day.  As a community we will be non-judgmental in our approach to others and their needs and will work hard to ensure that all voices are heard and that all communication is as effective as it can be.

The Raedwald Trust and all at Alderwood Academy are dedicated to providing the best possible education for every pupil in a stimulating and safe environment.  We are committed to all aspects of education and pupil development and encourage families to work in partnership with us to realise our aim of successfully helping each child to achieve their full potential.
