Feedback - Mental Health Service User Forum

General Details

We are a Mental Health Services organisation that are fully funded by Health East to provide support and offer a ‘voice’ to mental health service users in order to give them the opportunity to express their views, experiences and concerns around the services they use.  We then feed those comments back to Commissioners and service providers in order to try and achieve our main objectives, i.e. Provide answers and hopefully reassurance for Service users, and more importantly help to improve those services and the way in which they are delivered.

Our aim is to offer support, signposting, advice and most importantly a voice to all mental health service users in Waveney and Great Yarmouth in order to try to improve services in our locality.

We work closely in partnership with the NSFT (Norfolk & Suffolk Foundation Trust), as well as other organisations such as Community Action Suffolk,  Stonham, Great Yarmouth & Waveney mind, Dial, Suffolk Health Watch, Citizens Advice Bureau, and Suffolk Libraries to name a few,in order to provide support and information to those who need it.  There is a lot of support out there....we just need to let people know about it!

We offer Forums for Service users that predominantly take place in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and Beccles. These give individuals the opportunity to meet up socially and discuss the services they use and voice any opinions, or suggestions they have surrounding these.  At our forums you will find a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere, where new people are always  welcome. The forums are facilitated, either by a feedback co-ordinator, or one of our volunteers and any comments or matters that arise are then collated, anonymised and passed on to the relevant services. We also hope to offer support through people sharing their experiences....both good and bad, and encourage peer support amongst service users.

We host  events throughout the year which focus on various areas of Mental Health that matter and are of interest to service users, and we invite guest speakers to come along who share information and are available to answer any questions that people may have. Anyone with an interest in Mental Health Services is very welcome to come along to any of our forums or events, whether you are a service user yourself, caring for someone, or potentially interested in volunteering with please feel free to just turn up!

We are aware that it is not always easy to get to and from forums or events, so we always offer to provide transport and will do our best to accommodate individual needs.

We also try to arrange Social events, known as GOSH (Going Out Socially Helps) so would love to hear the kinds of things you would like to do....whether it's a theatre trip, a picnic, a bowling session, or just a lunchtime get together, and we will see what we can do to arrange these.

We do our best to Ensure that mental health service users are actively involved in the development and implementation of services improvement, in Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth & Waveney and feel that it is important to listen to the views of the people that matter.

If you would like to find out more about us, or feel you would like to have your views hear but maybe don't feel comfortable talking in a group then please email us  or give us a call Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm on either 03300 011239 or 07519 396134 and we can arrange to meet up with you somewhere you feel comfortable to talk.  If we are unable to take your call at that time, please be assured that we will get back to you as soon as possible.
