West Suffolk Crematorium and Cemetery

West Suffolk Crematorium is a privately-owned crematorium that opened in 1989. We carry out funeral services for Bury and the surrounding area, but we also provide funerals for the bereaved from as far away as Diss, Brandon, Sudbury and Newmarket.

We have a large catchment area and anyone is welcome to come to us. We are always flexible and our staff are fully trained and are always here to help with any queries or concerns.

We have a beautiful Garden of Remembrance where cremated remains can be scattered in a woodland area, or interred at one of our many memorial options.
We offer memorial choices to suit most tastes and budgets, from a simple birdbox in the woodland, to a beautiful Family Garden or Granite Mini-Grave.

Notes

We are a crematorium serving Suffolk and parts of Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. We have a warm and welcoming chapel that seats around 100 people, with standing room for another 40-50 people. We have a speaker system that will play the service to any mourners that cannot fit into the chapel. Our services run every 45 minutes, with 25 minutes being allowed for the service itself. This gives us time to tidy the chapel and prepare for the next one, thus ensuring that no-one feels hurried. We also have a cemetery that opened in 2005. Here we are able to offer traditional burials and also Woodland burials at the top of our haymeadow. A funeral service can take place elsewhere, followed by the burial here or the chapel can be used for the service before moving on to the graveside. We can offer services of any type, not just Church of England, although this is still the most usual - this means that we can have services taken by a Humanist minister ( i.e. non-religious) or Civil Celebrant (who can do a mixture of prayers/hymns or no religion at all. ) All parts of our chapel, waiting room and gardens are wheelchair-friendly - we have no steps - and we have disabled toilets. We also provide a loop system for those that need help with hearing. If anyone has any questions we are always pleased to help or advise. And if anyone would like to see how a crematorium works, then we can always arrange that by appointment.
