Professionals and school staff can access free Mental Health First Aid training courses on the SuffolkCPD Online website if they are worried about the mental health of a child or young person.
The training is aimed at professionals who work with children and young people, and aim to provide insight into:
- Mental and emotional wellbeing, and why it’s as important as our physical health,
- Understanding the various pressures impacting a child or young person’s mental health, and how to spot the risks,
- Common mental health symptoms, and how they can affect family life.

There are certain risk factors that make some children and young people more likely to experience mental health problems than other children, and this may include some children with educational difficulties, but not always. The emotional wellbeing training courses are for professionals who work with children and young people, and families.
The training gives professionals a better understanding of the various factors that may affect a young person's mental health, how to spot the symptoms of a common mental health issue, with guidance and resources that might be of help in supporting your child's emotional wellbeing.
