Active Suffolk is one of 43 Active Partnerships across England committed to increasing the number of people taking part in sport and physical activity.
We work in conjunction with a wide range of partners including local authorities, national governing bodies (NGB's), the education sector, the health sector, charitable/voluntary organisations and third sector organisations and our role is to enhance and develop the provision of sport and physical activity in Suffolk.
As well as supporting the development of sports clubs, coaches and volunteers, we also provide an Active Wellbeing service - an umbrella term that used for a number of services and projects that help people Suffolk to become more active. These services range from community based development services working closely with GP surgeries to specific services supporting people with long term health conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis and more.
We also spend a lot of time helping the wider community including health professionals, community leaders and volunteers to understand the benefits and national guidelines for physical activity and the significant impact that it can have on someone’s health.
