Suffolk Independent Living
At Suffolk Independent Living (SIL) we think that living well independently means that you should have choice and control over the decisions you make about your life, care and the support you need. Suffolk Independent Living provides information, advice and services which are designed to help you make these decisions well. We are part of a charity called Equal Lives, and we aspire to a world free from disabling barriers. We work within the Social Model of Disability and place our customers at the centre of everything we do.
Our services are available to you whether you are receiving funding from Adult or Children’s Social Services (as a Direct Payment), the NHS (as a Personal Health Budget), or you are funding your own support.
We have a team of experienced Independent Living Advisers who can give practical advice and support about all aspects of setting up and managing your support, whatever your funding source. Our support is provided over the telephone, online or within your own home (fees may apply), and we have a wide range of knowledge, from selecting care services to recruiting and employing your own Personal Assistants. We also provide simple-to-use services like Holding Accounts, to make managing your funding easier, and Employment Support Packages, to help you manage and pay your own Personal Assistants or Carers.
