Noah's Ark Nursery Group
PreSchool
Noah's Ark Nursery Group has been at the heart of Bures village life since 1971 providing quality, affordable care & education for pre-school children. We are proud of the high ratio of fully qualified staff to children. We have a team of 6 well trained and accredited staff, including a Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-Ordinator and 2 staff on their Level 2 Apprenticeships. We offer your child a safe & stimulating environment with a focus on play-centered activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Noah's Ark offers a range of inspiring indoor play activities in our spacious hall and our outside areas include our own garden and a secure play area on Bures Recreation ground. Noah's Ark Nursery Group is committed to safeguarding & promoting the welfare of children & young people & expects all staff & volunteers working within this setting to share this commitment. Our aim is to allow children from the age of 2 to develop their social & learning skills alongside friends in a happy, family style atmosphere. We have good links with the local school and provide a safe delivery & collection for children attending Bures Primary School, so that they can attend our breakfast and/or after school clubs. During our latest Ofsted report (05/11/18), we were graded Good, comments included Caring and attentive staff give children good emotional support. This helps children to settle well at the nursery and develop into confident and capable learners. Leadership and management are good. The partnership between the committee, staff and parents is strong. The views and suggestions of parents are regularly sought and acted upon to support continuous improvement. Staff know their children well. They gather information from parents to identify children's needs and interests to help further support their learning. Staff are good role models for children; they frequently praise children. This helps to raise children's self-esteem and supports them to behave well. Children have access to a wide variety of interesting resources indoors and outdoors to support their learning. So if you are looking for a safe, fun & nurturing setting for your child then come and see our friendly village nursery.

Our nursery group complies with the Special Educational Needs & Disability Code of Practice (2014) and the Equalities Act 2010 and provides welcome and appropriate learning opportunities for all children.
The aims and objectives of our SEND policy
We aim to offer an appropriate learning environment in which to provide a range of activities that meet individual needs.
We strive to identify any difficulties a child may be experiencing early. We develop partnerships with parents and always consult with them if we feel a child may need further assessment or help. A child’s progress will be observed, monitored and recorded as appropriate. If a child is not making adequate progress, staff will liaise closely with the Noah’s Ark Nursery Special Educational Needs & Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCO) on setting appropriate targets.
We may also liaise with other professionals to ensure that we are offering effective provision for children with special educational needs.
Specialist facilities, staffing and resources
Our premises are large, spacious and on one level with wheelchair access. Activities and resources are arranged so that all children have free movement between and access to them. All our equipment can be presented and adapted to suit the individual need of the children attending our provision.

Local Offer
- Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities
Noah's Ark Nursery Group aims to have regard to the Code of Practice 2014 on Special Educational Needs and Disability together with the Equality Act 2010. We provide a warm welcome to all children with appropriate play and learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
We will consult with parents as to how best we can meet their child's individual needs and if necessary seek funding to provide appropriate resources and support to enable the child to participate fully in the learning and play opportunities within our group. With parental consent, we will also liaise with outside agencies and professionals to ensure that our provision is effective in meeting the individual needs of the child.
If we feel that a child is having difficulties and is not making adequate progress we will always consult with the parents. Early identification of difficulties is essential and with parent and child input enables us to provide differentiated activities to meet the child's needs through the use of a range of strategies.
All children’s' progress is observed, monitored and recorded and the child's keyperson will consult with our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-Ordinator (SENDCO) so that appropriate developmental and learning targets can be set. Progress on these personalised plans are reviewed, amended and shared with parents on a regular basis so that parents may contribute to their own child's plan and future learning.
Our SENDCO is Nadia Andow-PERRY who is an Accredited SENDCO. She monitors the needs and progress of children with special educational needs and disability, and also monitors the effectiveness of our provision to ensure we are meeting the needs of children with special educational needs and disability.
All knowledge gained from attending training is used to inform our practice and is disseminated to all staff. It ensures that we are also kept up-to-date of any changes.
- Staff have experience of dealing with:
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- Global Learning Development Delay
- Hearing Impairment
- Treacher Collins Syndrome
- Challenging Behaviour
- Cerebral Palsy
- Dyspraxia
- Speech, Language and Communication difficulties
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- English As an Additional Language
- Health Conditions including Diabetes, Haemophilia, Severe Asthma, Eczema
Our sessions are held in a large spacious hall, on one level with disabled access, disabled toilet facilities and has Hearing Induction Loop installed. To enable free flow access directly from the hall to our outside area we would make reasonable adjustments, providing ramps and would seek funding to support this (there is wheelchair access to the outside area from the room adjoining the hall)
All children have the right to play (UN Convention on the Rights of a Child) and Noah's Ark Nursery Group's aim is for each child to experience success in their learning and play enabling them to reach their full potential.
Our Special Education Needs and Disability Policy has been reviewed in line with the new Government legislation which came into force September 2014 - SEND Code of Practice 2014 and The Children & Families Act 2014.

Excellent pre-school Rated 5 out of 5
I can't recommend this establishment enough. My daughter absolutely loves going here. The staff are very friendly and the range of activities they do in just one day is fantastic. They cover everything from cooking, nature, painting, crafts and of course play! My daughter has been attending for 3 months and she has learn't so much already. This is the best preschool/nursery we have seen.
