Edelweiss Day Care Nursery Ltd

Day nursery
General Details

We are a privately run, family business and have been established for over 35 years. We offer a small baby/toddler room and Pre-School. We offer a small, friendly, quality childcare service with a huge variety of activities, both in our playroom and outside in our fully enclosed home garden. We hold the Every Child A Talker Accreditation and have had great success in ensuring our children are ready for school in terms of their communication and language skills.  Activities include growing plants, art and craft, musical instruments, puppets, messy play, singing and stories. Because of our size, we are able to cater for most individual needs. Our Early Years Practitioners are qualified and continue with updating skills. 3 of our team have specialist young child/baby certificates and 2 hold a degree/working towards a degree. We do not use temporary staff. Our meals are home cooked on site. Our baby/toddler room has spaces for just 7 young children and our pre-school offers 13 places. Both run under the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Best nursery in ipswich
Our daughter has attended this brilliant nursery from the age of 12 months old. Our story is very long so I will try to keep it short. Edelweiss took us in very suddenly when our then current child minder felt looking after our daughter was not possible, just after our daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We were frightened and felt very unsupported & alone and at that time we didn't have a clue about caring for a baby with type 1 diabetes. Edelweiss were fabulous and very willing to learn and adapt to our daughter's ever constant changing needs and care. They have not only looked after and cared for our daughter fantastically, they have always offered our family support in what's been a very difficult 3 years. This nursery is in our mind the best around - We can't praise them enough, if fact it's going to be very hard to leave them next month when our daughter starts school.
Fantastic nursery
Our son, now 4, has been going to Edelweiss since he was 1. He continues to thrive and over the years has formed very strong bonds with a number of the nursery nurses. Because it is such a small nursery all the nursery nurses know each child really well which means the childrens needs are always well catered for as they are not only dependent on their key worker. My daughter, now 13 months, started at Edelweiss  3 months ago and has settled straight in - there have been no tears! She has a dairy and soya intolerance and the nursery have been very supportive and accommodating to ensure her every need is met. They put my mind at rest straight away and they order in special dairy free snacks and bread and make sure her diet is as varied as possible within these limitations. I would highly recommend this nursery for those who are looking for a home away from home environment with highly qualified staff that are professional, passionate and caring at all times.
Hip Dysplasia & Spica Cast
Our Daughter was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) at one year old, just after starting at Edelweiss. The nursery were so supportive during a difficult time for us as a family. They gave us time to decide what we wanted for Annabel and to see how they could help. They were keen to help Annabel continue at nursery and with her development. As part of her treatment, our daughter has to wear a spica cast (for 10 weeks) which restricts her movement and means she cannot sit on her own and requires a large amount of holding. The nursery held a meeting with us before she started back after her operation to understand what treatment she requires and ensure they had the necessary equipment. They have been brilliant in accommodating our daughter and allowing her to carry on like any other child. She is involved in all activities and it feels like they really care about her well-being. We could not recommend this nursery enough to anyone considering sending their children here. They care so much about our daughters development and ensuring her condition does not affect anything. We can't thank them enough and look forward to our daughter spending many happy days there.
