Following the National Lockdown the Horstead Centre must currently consider itself closed for visiting groups. In addition to this, recent guidance from the Department for Education is that schools should avoid residential trips away, and as such it looks like we will not be able to host residential experiences for schools at the Centre until that guidance can safely change. We absolutely recognise the reasons for this and are keen to keep our Centre, staff and visitors as safe as can be.
The good news is that we are confident that when we emerge from National Lockdown we will be able to offer some level of experience to visiting groups, through Activity Days or one-off sessions. We are working hard to make sure that our COVID Secure Plan is up to date and is aligned with the Government’s guidance, good practice and the advice of our activity National Governing Bodies. We will work with any prospective group to ensure that their visit to Horstead is safe, enjoyable and memorable.
Winter is a particularly special time here at Horstead; the mist in the fields, marshmallows round the fire and the tranquil river are all to be enjoyed and we’re really looking forward to introducing both our regular visitors and new groups also to the Centre at this lovely time of year.

The Horstead Centre is a residential outdoor education centre set against the picturesque Norfolk Broads, catering for local school and youth groups up to a maximum number of 60. Fully catered, our Monday to Friday programme is ideally targeted at the primary schools market and we often work with youth groups at weekends.
We have a wide range of activities on-site including a climbing tower, zip wire, crate stack, jacob's ladder and low ropes courses. With the river just behind the Centre we can offer canoeing, raft building and sit-on-top kayaking.
We encourage cooperation and team building in our visiting groups, and provide the opportunity for young people to develop in their physical, social, intellectual and spiritual capacities within a safe but challenging environment.
