Our Prepare For Birth course gives you the perfect mix of yoga (breathing, movements, positions, mindfulness and relaxation techniques) in combination with the scientific processes of birth and latest midwifery protocols and guidelines. These courses have been running for nearly ten years and all our content is FEDANT approved (the UK's awarding body for antenatal education in the UK).
Essentially, we cover EVERYTHING you need to know to prepare for birth, including:
- The stages of labour,
- What is a contraction,
- How do I know labour has started,
- The play of hormones,
- Importance of the positive feedback loop,
- Using the breath, yoga and mindfulness to stay calm,
- An explanation of the possible medical interventions such as induction ventouse, forceps and caesarian and why these sometimes have a much needed place,
- Pain relief options; natural and medical and what can work best in different situations, and
- Essential birth partner tips.
You will really understand what your body is doing, when birthing, and how you can help the process along.
It’s fundamental to have a clear understanding of all of this so you can work with your body and your baby, and importantly be able to navigate any challenges that may come up and make any informed decisions, along the way.
It's also important for your birth partner to understand all of this to enable them to support, encourage and hold a safe space for a birthing mother.
“Sarah explained everything very well and we came away with a really good understanding of what actually happens in labour. We are also doing a NCT course, and although it covers a lot of similar things, we found the LushTums Prepare for Birth workshop was much more detailed yet so much more reassuring and easy to understand.” Becky
“I would highly recommend attending the Prepare for Birth workshop, my husband and I both found the experience useful and informative. We found Sarah to be welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and both felt very at ease during the class. As a first time mum-to-be, I was nervous about giving birth. Thanks to Sarah's talk about the stages of labour and what to expect from your body I found it much easier to remain calm and in control during labour. I managed to make use of a few positions to help during some of the more difficult moments. The knowledge from the workshop and the yoga classes let me control the birth and I had a wonderful birth experience!" Kath.
