Bentley Riding School was founded in 1987 by Mannie Beaven, a former International Rider and member of the British Showjumping Team. It is a British Horse Society Approved Riding Establishment, the base for the Ipswich Branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association and the venue for the riding activities of a number of schools including Ipswich High School for Girls. Parents of children with special needs check out Activities Unlimited website.
Although the standard of instruction and care is high, our aim has always been to make riding fun - the opposite of formal and stuffy! Our clients are our friends. It is a family riding school. We teach children, their parents and, in many cases, their grannies. We have a large, well lighted, indoor arena which is ideal for beginners or more advanced lessons for the experienced riders, and we can ride directly out of the yard into beautiful woodland with no roadwork. Very useful for adult beginners taking up riding when, perhaps, they have more time and leisure.
We have lots of children riding at all levels (No minimum age). Lessons every day and through the weekend. The Saturday Pony Club is very popular. Kids come for the whole day or the morning; riding, learning pony care and making new friends. There are Pony Days and Courses in the weekdays of every school holiday. Check out our website.
Learning computer skills and the mysteries of the digital age is essential today - but there is a lot to be said for not losing touch with the natural world. We try to provide an alternative environment where kids - and adults too, if they wish - can ride horses, muck out and groom and all the other jobs and responsibilities involved in the care of animals. Great confidence giver for young children.
