Suffolk National Trust Volunteers

General Details

We are a volunteer group affiliated to the National Trust, who help rangers maintain their properties. Our patch extends from Dunwich in the north, to Danbury Common in the south, and to Ickworth (Bury St Edmunds) in the west.

We meet for a task on Sundays once a fortnight and transport can usually be arranged. Tasks are mostly outdoors on local National Trust countryside sites – mainly woodland, farmland and gardens. We rotate tasks between several estates in the area. Tools are provided and instruction on how to use them safely is given. In addition rangers can provide valuable insight into careers in conservation.

– You do not have to be a National Trust member to volunteer with us
– There is no commitment to come out on every task
– You don’t need to have any particular skills or knowledge, and our work parties usually include a range of tasks.

Regular volunteers also become eligible for (effectively) free NT membership the following year and 20% off in NT shops and cafes by earning a Volunteer Card
