Day nursery

We offer Pre-School, Breakfast & After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs.  

Our Pre-School follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and focuses on the three prime areas:
Communication & Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development, as well as the four specific areas: Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding of the World and Expressive Art & Design.

We encourage children to achieve learning outcomes through fun activities and we structure our sessions to allow for circle time and individual and group activities.
Each child has a ‘My Learning Journey’ where a key member of staff will record key observations and keep track of how your child is developing against the EYFS.  The learning journeys are a crucial part of child development and they are accessible for parents to review and/or add to at all times.

We have a well planned layout for continual provision where children can access the resources to build independent learning. Our wooden blocks are one of the most popular resources and are frequently being turned into pirate ships, dens and formula one cars!

We have mid height toilets to help build confidence in young children using the toilet and have excellent nappy changing facilities.  We will work with parents who are toilet training to ensure a consistent approach.

We have excellent outdoor facilities which include a large walk in sandpit which aids the gross motor development that children need. also have access to the school field, play apparatus, playground and a covered veranda.

Our outside area is continually accessible and we plan outside activities for each session to help encourage learning through play.

At Sunflowers Childcare we ensure the snacks and tea we offer children are fresh and healthy.  We encourage healthy lunchboxes and our snack and mealtimes are a social, enjoyable part of the children’s days.  We cater for all dietary requirements and can support children with any allergies.

Our staff members hold either a Diploma or Certificate in Childcare Learning and Development and/or Playwork. All staff members are first aid trained and all do safeguarding training. All staff and regular adults in the setting are DBS checked, Our staff are highly motivated and dedicated to ensuring the extended development of each child.  Our staff members are frequently updating their professional development by attending training courses to enhance their knowledge.

Our Holiday Clubs are open to children aged 2-12 years and we plan a variety of activities to suit each age group.  All of our activities are optional and we offer plenty of choice to keep everyone happy.  (Children under school age must be in attendance at Sunflowers Pre-School). For the Summer of 2022 we will be opening on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8.30am - 3.30pm
