Waveney Deaf Children's Society

We are a local group affiliated to the National Deaf Children's Society and we are run by parents and carers of deaf children on a voluntary basis. We aim to provide social activities for deaf/hearing impaired children and their families and to create opportunities for parents to support one another and to share knowledge and experiences.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

We support families of children with a hearing impairment by providing events and activities for deaf/hearing impaired children and their families. We cover the Waveney area of Suffolk and welcome any families with a deaf/hearing impaired child to become a member. Membership is free but there are small fees for individual events that we organise. We provide family activities where parents are expected to supervise their own children. We are managed by a small committee of parents and carers who are all volunteers and any member is welcome to join the committee. Volunteers and committee are DBS checked and we try to ensure that there is BSL support available at all events. We are affiliated to the National Deaf Children's Society and follow the NDCS Local groups policies.
