East Coast College Nursery (HS)

Holiday Scheme

The Nursery at Lowestoft College has been in operation since 1988 and is situated in the College grounds in a separate purpose built unit (built in 1997) with its own secure garden. Whilst students who are attending the college have priority, parents who are returning to work may also apply for places. The nursery aims to: Ø Create a friendly, caring environment I which children feel secure Ø Provide play provision and equipment which is suitable for each age group Ø Create a stimulating environment providing children with opportunities to express through play to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually Ø Promotes positive behaviour enabling the child to grow in confidence and self esteem Ø Create an equal opportunity environment in which children are encouraged to reach full potential Ø Consult and involve parent/carer in their child’s care and education There are 3 separate playrooms in the nursery. The Ducking room caters for 9 children aged 6 weeks -2 years, Penguin room for 12 children aged 2years-3years and the Swans room for 16  3-4years old. Our most recent Ofsted report (October 2013) states “ The quality of care is of consistent high quality in all three rooms” The nursery has completed the Suffolk Quality Assurance scheme this is an indication of the high quality of service that we provide. However perhaps the most welcome evident of our high standards is the commend from parents “ Thank you for all your hard work…being happy at nursery means so much.” It’s great to see that she is establishing friendships and always feels very comfortable with her surroundings whilst at nursery.”
