Tiddlywinks Day Nursery

Day nursery

Tiddlywinks day nursery occupies the ground floor of a private house in Trimley St Mary, near Felixstowe, Suffolk. It is situated close to bus stops, Trimley St Mary train station, Trimley St Mary Primary school and roads leading in and out of Felixstowe.

At Tiddlywinks we work from the early years foundation stage (EYFS) which is a statutory framework that sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. We operate out of two buildings one which is on the ground floor of the house with two play rooms, toileting area and main kitchen which make up the main nursery for children aged 2 to 4 years.

We use the main building also for morning and after school care for children attending Trimley St Mary School offering drop offs and pickups. The second building being a secure baby room situated in the garden with play area, sleep area, toileting and nappy changing facilities and a small kitchen, Suitable for babies/toddlers aged 3 months to 2 years. We have a lovely large garden which is enclosed and secured sectioned into three areas, baby garden, nursery garden and climbing frame area which are set up daily with a variety of activities and resources. We provide safe off road parking which ensures safe drop offs and pick-ups. We offer a wide variety of healthy snacks, hot cooked lunches and light tea which can be adapted to suit each child.

All staff are level 3 qualified, DBS checked and all trained in safeguarding, first aid and food hygiene. Tiddlywinks works on a key person system where every child is supported with a member of staff who takes special interests in that child on a day to day basis. They can help the child deal with separation anxieties they may experience at nursery. They also observe, plan daily activities and support that child’s learning and journey while at Tiddlywinks Day Nursery.

Your child’s key file is monitored, updated regularly and available for you to access at any time. If you require any other information, a prospectus or to arrange a visit please contact us.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

At Tiddlywinks Day Nursery we are inclusive of all, supporting all children and their families. We have two Suffolk accredited SENCO’s, a Named SEND coordinator and a Deputy SEND coordinator. Whom have received the relevant training to support their role and comply with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. The coordinators work together with staff to ensure the setting provide an environment where all children’s needs are met. Working closely with key-workers to support children identified with special needs and/or disability, ensuring their individual needs are positively met. Both coordinators will work closely with those who already know the child. Gathering information and assessing to identify which types of support are needed, depending on the child’s specific needs. The SEND coordinators also work with outside agencies to ensure children within our setting can achieve their best outcomes.
