Maidstone Infant School is a Community Co-educational Primary Day School, providing an excellent education for the children in the 3 – 7 age range (Reception and Key stage 1).
The organisation of infant classes varies from year to year, depending on the number of children on roll. At present there are two Reception classes, two Year 1 classes and 2 year 2 classes and a Local Authority Specialist Provision for Autistic Spectrum Disorder pupils who have an EHCP and a diagnoses for ASD.
Having completed Year 2 at Maidstone Infant School, the majority of children transfer to Causton Junior School. The transition from one school to the other is made as smooth as possible by regular liaison and planned visits. Staff from both schools meet to discuss and plan curriculum and pastoral organisation.
During the term before they start in the Reception Class, the children have many visits to their new class, to meet their new teacher. A morning is set aside for parents to visit, be given information and ask questions.
Two consultation weeks are held per year, to give parents the opportunity to discuss their children’s progress in a formal situation. We have an Open Door policy for parents to come in and discuss concerns at any time, on a more informal basis. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment.
