Play Out Ipswich

Day nursery

At Play-out we fundamentally believe that children grow and develop best when provided with a secure, nurturing and stimulating environment. We will provide a home from home experience that promotes indoor and outdoor play with quality, exciting and dynamic play activities tailored to individual children’s needs. Partnership with parents is a key priority for our team as we recognise that you are the primary expert on your child and their needs.

Care is provided by a team of well qualified and experienced staff who are passionate about providing inspiring, engaging and nurturing activities and support for each individual child. We know how critical a child’s early years are to their lifelong development and will work with you to ensure each individual child has the best experiences and opportunities to learn. We are registered with Ofsted to care for up to 44 children aged 0-5 years.

Play-out nursery is divided into three rooms to enable the team to plan, and provide developmentally appropriate activities for each age group. The baby room can care for children aged up to 2 years 6 months , the Toddler room care for children aged 2 years 6 months -3 years 6 months old and the preschool room can care for children aged 3 years 6 months -5 year old. Both the baby room and preschool rooms have immediate access to the vast outdoor area. All learning experiences are planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to ensure all areas of children’s learning are catered for. Within all the activities we provide, we endeavour to use the most natural resources available to promote every sensory aspect of children’s learning. We use our large, attractive outdoor space for all weather outdoor play to encourage children’s knowledge of their natural environment and natural curiosity to explore. Our wiggly worms room, they are yet to have their own outside space however they do have regular access to the large garden.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Here at Play-Out we thrive on ensuring that we have full regard for the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice (2014). All provision provided within the setting enables us to support each individual child and their specific needs.

Our building is designed to be as accessible as possible to allow full access to the public; we have bathrooms that have wheelchair access, meeting rooms to allow us privacy with outside agencies when supporting a child and to use when supporting the child on a 1-1 basis.

  • We provide a rich, warm and welcoming environment to ensure all children can settle comfortably.
  • The named setting SENDCO is Nicola, who will work closely with staff and parents to meet the children’s individual needs. Obtaining information and attending courses that will allow the setting to fully support the child where necessary. The named deputy is…Hannah.
  • We work closely alongside parents to allow us to meet each child’s specific needs. Getting to know families, routines and important information. We also work alongside outside agencies to ensure our provision is high and is beneficial to the children’s needs.
  • We make sure all Children With special Educational Needs and disabilities are supported thoroughly through any transition stage, such as trial days, room moves, and school transitions.
  • We use the ‘Access, Plan, Do and Review’ approach when helping to support children with Special Education Needs and Disabilities.
  • Staff within the setting have been on the following, related and relevant Sendco courses;
  1. Makaton
  2. EYFS Training which goes alongside SENDCO in the basis of a positive and equal approach, which can have a highly positive impact on children with SEND’s development.

Needs that are currently supported within the setting are;

  1. Physical impairments
  2. Speech and Language

All staff are aware of their responsibilities to help meet the children’s needs.

  • As a setting, management ensure they are up to date with legislation and guidelines, passing on the relevant information to colleagues.
