2sleep - Sleep support for children and young people of all ages and needs

General Details

2sleep is a private sleep practice run by Vanessa Moore - a sleep practitioner trained by NHS Solent in Southampton and the charity Scope.

If your child is experiencing sleep issues I can provide and individual consultation for children aged 12 months to teens with and without additional needs. In most cases there are simple strategies that can be put in place to help overcome sleep problems and make significant improvements.

I can also provide sleep workshops, seminars and drop in advice sessions for groups and organisations.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

2sleep is a private practice but our ethos is to offer low costs consultations or signpost families to other sleep support as both practitioners at 2sleep have children with additional needs so understand how difficult it can be for families when their child has a sleep issue. At some stage about 40% of children have a sleep problem considered to be significant by their parents but this figure can be much higher for children with additional needs because often there are specific sleep issues which are associated with different disorders and syndromes. When children experience sleep issues this impacts not only on them but also on other family members. In 2013 the Family Fund www.Familyfund.org produced a report into sleep deprivation amongst families of disabled children called “Tired All the Time”. In the report one of the key findings was that parents often do not know where to go to seek help so the report recommended that sleep services be listed in Local Offers so that families know, where and when to access such advice and support.
