Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

The settings manager is a trained Senco and staff have attended training for autism awareness, elklan, manual handling and makaton.

We fully support children and their families through the SEN process. We are currently supporting children with Down's Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, Autism, Hearing Impairment and Speech and Language Delay.

We welcome outside agencies into the setting and use their expertise to enhance our knowledge of the children's individual needs.

We will, where possible attend any meetings that may be required of us and have knowledge of the children's development centre (CDC) process and of report writing. Staff within the setting have individual expertise with disabilities and offer their support to families and to their colleagues. Alternately, if it is possible we will strive to offer the most suitable member of staff as keyperson to suit the needs of the child and their family.
