
Halesworth Town Council is the elected local authority and is the first tier of local government. Elections are held every four years to elect the 12 Town Councillors. The Chairman and Vice Chair are elected by fellow Councillors and usually serve a year in office.
The role of the Council is to represent the wishes and aspirations of Halesworth residents to the District Council and also to inform residents of local and national policy and legislation changes which will have an impact on them and Halesworth’s activities. The Town Council also develops contacts with all authorities and other organisations which can have can influence on the social, economic and physical wellbeing of Halesworth and its residents.
