Cancer Care Navigators
The Cancer Care Navigator service operates within the trust for all newly diagnosed cancer patients.
Cancer does not just affect your health. It can have an impact on every aspect of your life and the lives of those around you and it can be hard to know where to turn to for help. The Cancer Care Navigators are here to help you get the right help and support with all your non-medical needs.
We are trained staff working alongside Ipswich and Colchester hospital and with the local GP surgeries to support you, your families and carers with practical, financial and emotional concerns you might have.
We can offer practical support and advice, which might include:
- Helping you improve your health and wellbeing
- Pointing you towards relevant cancer support groups and courses
- Referring you for emotional support where needed, and identifying who may be best placed to support you
- Advising you on how to talk to family and friends about cancer
- Linking you in with services and support in their local area
- Facilitating access to support for any practical needs
- Supporting you with the transition back to daily life, as your care moves from a hospital setting to a community setting.
We will arrange a time to talk through all your needs on the phone and help you to identify any key concerns so we can point you towards the best support and services for you.
You can self-refer to the service by contacting us below or you may be referred by a healthcare professional.
The service is available Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm (answerphone facility out of hours).
