Felixstowe Nursery School

Preschool

Felixstowe Nursery School is a small private, friendly nursery taking children from two to five years of age. The nursery operates from two rooms in the St John's Ambulance Hall in Walton, Felixstowe. We have a safe enclosed outdoor area, with child friendly surface, to the rear of the building to play in.

The nursery opens five days a week during school term times. We are open from 8.45 to 15.45. Children can stay all day and bring a packed lunch with them or choose morning or afternoon sessions. We can have a maximum of 34 children attending the nursery at any one time. We are routinely inspected by Ofsted and ensure high standards of practice are maintained.

Nursery Staff are very welcoming and are all experienced and qualified in working with early years. We want all of the children in our nursery to enjoy learning, to be healthy and safe; to grow and to do their best in an atmosphere of support and encouragement. We work in close partnership with parents to achieve the best for each individual child and operate as a team to be part of local community activities and events.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Our setting supports all children and their families needs and requirements. Staff are experienced and are always updating knowledge to improve our service. We have an accredited Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator who supports all staff, children and their families. Staff are increasing their knowledge and use of Makaton.

Felixstowe Nursery School is inclusive of all children and as a setting we are very aware that early identification and intervention is of paramount importance. All children are assessed and starting points plotted. Children’s progress is tracked termly enabling staff to see that all children are developing and where support is needed to ensure each child has the support and interventions to meet their full potential. We are flexible and willing to participate in training ensuring continual professional development so staff have the knowledge and understanding to support each child’s individual needs.

Every child is unique and their individual identified learning, interests and next steps are planned for each week. We are very aware of each child’s needs and purchase resources termly to support their special educational needs and disabilities. We adapt the setting to accommodate individual needs and ensure the child has the space and access to all areas and activities.

The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator supports the child’s key person with ideas and strategies to support each child’s individual needs and requirements. We have a strong key person system in place and liaise well with the child’s parents/carers and other professionals. This strong Key person system ensures we support the child’s emotional and social development.

Individual education plans are completed with all professionals input termly. These are completed based on the child’s interests and identified learning with parental input with strategies to be tried at home. Parents can complete observations at home which are recorded and shared at termly reviews. We access external professional help and support with parental permission where staff feel it is needed.

We have a wide range of experience, expertise and skills within our team of staff. Staff are supportive of each other and will cascade knowledge to other members of the team. We access a wide range of training on a regular basis to ensure we have up to date knowledge to support each child and their family.

Absolutely brilliant! Rated 5 out of 5
My daughter currently attends Felixstowe Nursery School and my older son also attended before he started school. It is a friendly, supportive nursery with amazing staff! My children have made really impressive progress through play based learning and my little girl cannot wait to get to nursery in the mornings! There are so many activities and opportunities to learn available for the children, whenever you walk in it is so bright and colourful and busy. My son had a speech and language issue which was picked up immediately by his key worker, who kept me in the loop throughout his referral to the relevant services. I for one will be very sad when it is time for my daughter to leave in July, however I know she has been well equipped by the nursery for her transition to big school. Cannot recommend Felixstowe Nursery School enough!!

Brilliant nursery Rated 5 out of 5
My son has just left the nursery for ‘big school’ and we are going to miss FNS so much. The relationships we built up with the staff are wonderful, they are all so friendly, welcoming, warm and down to earth. my little boy learned so much during his time at the nursery and it’s been the best place for his educational journey to start out, he’s more than ready for primary school now, I know a lot of thanks goes to FNS for this.

Amazing, friendly nursery Rated 5 out of 5
My daughter has been attending this nursery for a while now. The staff are friendly, informative, professional and always go above and beyond. My daughter loves this nursery, she always comes back saying what a lovely time she has had. They keep us up to date with what our daughter has learnt and where she is compared to where she is recommended to be. I cant recommend this nursery enough! Please go and have a look , you wont be disappointed!

The best Nursery Rated 5 out of 5
From the moment my daughter started she has loved every moment, the staff are so caring, friendly and really care so much about the children, nothing is too much trouble. They have great topics of learning and my daughter has progressed so much being with them. We will really miss the nursery in September when she starts school, but they have prepared her for the next step of her journey. Couldn't recommend this nursery enough!!

Brilliant nursery Rated 5 out of 5
Brilliant nursery, highly recommend. My daughter is now leaving this nursery after being with them for the last three years to start primary school. The staff here are friendly, compassionate, helpful, kind I can't say enough nice things about the staff. The rates for the services are the best in town. My daughter would come out of nursery always happy and excited to tell me about her day and always looked forward to the next time she would be going. If you are looking for a nursery where the staff treat you child like family than this is the nursery for you
