In my setting, I make sure that I promote equal opportunity practice for all children, treating all the children with equal concern and respect.
I value and respect the different religions, origins, cultures and languages so that each child is valued as an individual without racial or gender stereotyping. I will not discriminate against any child on the grounds of disability, class or family status.
I give opportunities for the children to learn about other people’s traditions and cultures; they have access to a range of books, puzzles, music toys etc., which provide a positive image, and diversity of life.
I aim to follow the requirement of the EYFS and provide an inclusive environment for all children and their families. I am also required to comply with the requirement of the equality act 2010 and the SEND code of practice 2014.
I make sure that I have regular chats with parents/carer about the individual needs of their child/children, I talk to the children about their likes/ dislikes and interests, I always encourage parents/ carer to tell me about family culture/religion/beliefs. In return I will encourage the children in my care to learn more about all cultures and religions including their own. This will be done by reading, cooking, colouring, eating specialist foods from around the world, also celebrating any special festivals.
