It can help keep people mentally and physically active and independent into old age, it can also bring peole and communities together. The Goverment through the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills has funded the national community learning Champion Support Programme. The Champions become active in their community promoting the value of learning to others. Their local credibility enables them to act as a bridge betrween councils and communities, promoting the value of learning to friends, relatives, neighbours and workmates. They show their value in opening up the opportunities for infomral learning wherever they arise.
