Mulberry Bush Nursery

Day nursery

The Mulberry Bush Nursery is a warm, friendly, caring nursery registered by Ofsted to look after 58 children.

We can offer flexible sessions for children throughout the day from 7:45am to 6:00pm, open 51 weeks of the year.

The nursery has been purpose built and provides excellent facilities inside and outside to ensure an exciting, varied and stimulating curriculum. The nursery has been divided into three areas. We have the ‘Baby Buds’, ‘Buds ’ and the ‘Berries’. Each age group has their own play room and messy play.

Funded sessions for 2, 3 and 4 year olds are available for 15 hours a week and 30 hours a week for eligible families.

We have 3 separate outside areas including a sensory garden, fruit and vegetable patch, mud kitchen, willow den and bug corner.

All our staff are highly qualified to Level 3 or above. Our staff also hold their Food Hygiene, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children qualifications which are updated regularly.

The nursery provides freshly cooked, homemade, nutritious meals on a 5 weekly rolling menu which is reviewed and amended termly.

We also provide an After School Club where by we can collect the children from school and return to nursery to look after.

We also run an exciting Holiday Club where children can enjoy crafts, sports, golf lessons, trips to Thornham Walks and the Maize Maze and many more.

The children are our priority and we aim to provide them with a fun and exciting setting within a safe and welcoming environment.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Our nurseries special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) and Deputy SENCO hold level 4 qualifications in childcare along with Key SEND training.

A number of our staff are qualified to level 2 in makaton signing and 1 member to level 4 using makaton signing within story and song time along with everyday care routine eg drink, toilet.

We appreciate that every child is unique and will develop at their own rate, with their own style of learning. With our thorough settling in process we aim to ensure that all children will quickly feel secure and at home within their new environment, however we do appreciate that the time it takes a child to settle in will vary. You will always be fully involved within your child’s life at The Mulberry Bush. You will have completed a variety of care forms and also an ‘All About Me Booklet’ which will give us a greater insight of your child’s likes and dislikes.

We will always work with you to support your child together. Your child’s Key Person and nursery SENCO will be able to meet with you and agree what together we feel is the best care plan for your child. This may include an Individual Education Plan (I.E.P), where short and long term SMART targets are planned. These I.E.P’s are regularly reviewed and new targets planned when the existing ones have been met. These reviews are always organised for a time that is convenient for yourself so that we can discuss and set targets together.
