You and Me Playgroup

Pre-School Playgroup

You and Me Playgroup has been providing a welcoming inclusive, happy, safe and stimulating environment for pre-school children to learn play and develop for over 30 years.  Our aim is to encourage children to learn, gain confidence, self-esteem, become socially aware and to develope the ability to express themselves in an inclusive, caring and friendly environment.  You and Me operates from the main hall within St Mary Magdalens church hall.  Children access the main hall for indoor activities and access an enclosed outdoor play area behind the hall for outdoor activities. We have a strong consistent team of qualified staff who are friendly and caring who help and support all children and families inclusively, additional support can be arranged where required, to support those who have special educational needs and disabilities.  There are strategies in place to support children who are learning English as an additional language.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

We provide a stimulating environment where all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities are supported to reach their full potential.  We have a high regard for SEND, ensuring our provision is inclusive to all children with special educational needs and disabilities.  We support parents and children with SEND and identify the specific needs with SEN and meet those needs through a range of SEN strategies.  We work in partnership firstly with parents, outside agencies, other professionals in meeting individual children's needs.  We monitor and review our policy, practice and provision and where necessary make adjustments. We have two dedicated named SENco's who can address questions or concerns parents may have.  We firstly, involve parents/carers in planning /support plans/ advising them what range of support is available for their child -eg EYFS curriculum planning differentitation, specific teaching interventions, support for behaviour, support for health needs, partnership working with other professionals, additional support strategies, support for communication needs.  We seek training and support for staff.  All staff have undergone DBS checks. We have staff trained from level 3 to level 4, and paediatric first aiders who are in attendance within each session at all times.  We have additional members of staff who are able to support children with SEND.  Accessibilty-our setting is located on the ground floor of the main hall where there is ramp access. Inclusion: all children are included and their needs are met by discussion/consultations with parents/carers/outside professionals/agencies. We support all children and families through their next transitions. If parents would like any additional support from the setting, support for parents/carers is given by parent consultation with support from SENco, links with children's centres, outside professionals/agencies. Parents/carers will be able to access Suffolk’s Local Offer with support from the SENCO and other professionals. This is a directory of services offered to support their child.
