The Shed has just re-convened - meeting Fri p.m's outdoors and distanced in a construction project. Contact details to be found on the Debenham website or the Parish Newsletter.
The clubs have rota's and we are outside and distanced for gatherings. When we move livestock it is discussed beforehand and is controlled.
There may be reduced activities during the winter months while Covid 19 compromises our lives. but, we may gather on a rota basis in the spacious Barn.
2 Fields is growing local food for local people, with local people.
The activities are mostly community led with a 'Pig Club', 'Beef Club' and a 'Men's Shed' for local skills sharing, re-purposing and 'Tools with a Mission' - collection point for tools for Africa.
We 'grow with nature' - we add nothing; we grow green manure and use rotation, companion planting and diverse cropping which helps to build build healthy soils. We hope this will help us to withstand the shocks of extremes of weather as our climate changes. We have an area of 'agro-forestry' using fruit & nut trees, a Traditional Orchard of grafted suffolk heritage varieties, a Forest Garden with edible, medicinal and useful products grown, a woodland for future woodfuel and wood-working. We also have 6 paddocks used on short rotation by the livestock to ensure optimum growth & health. We have a resident flock of pedigree Shetlands as well as summer visits from the piglets and calves.
2 Fields Farm incorporates 'Permaculture Principles' - Earth Care, People Care, Fair Share.
We encourage local people to become involved in growing food and sharing skills & knowledge. Making local connections and building our local support networks.
