The Children's Community Medical Team is one of the services within Integrated Community Paediatric Services, part of Suffolk Community Healthcare. The Community Medical Team carry out neurodevelopmental assessments of children and young people from birth until they leave school. This is done to help identify a child or young person's needs, in order to ensure appropriate onward referral for treatment or further investigation.
Children are referred if there is concern about their development. This could be in the following areas:
- speech and language
- social communication
- cognitive ability
- hearing and vision
- motor development
Common problems are developmental delay, cerebral palsy, speech or language disorders, learning difficulties, specific syndromes affecting development and Autism.
The Children's Community Medical Team laso provides statutory services including Safeguarding, Adoption and Looked After Children Medicals and Statutory assessment for Special Educational Needs.
