Girlguiding - Flatford Senior Section

General Details

For young women aged 14-25, Senior Section is the next step in your Guiding journey.

"Travel the world, learn to lead, raise your voice and build an incredible CV. Whatever you want to do, The Senior Section offers a range of unique opportunities. With a programme designed around your personal development, The Senior Section is all about gaining valuable, transferable skills and standing up for what you believe in."

  • Build your skills - members of The Senior Section can take on a vast array of awards and qualifications. These range from our Leadership Qualification - which trains girls to run their own unit - to the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
  • Support your peers - want to help younger girls to navigate issues like body confidence and mental well-being? Our peer education programme gives members of The Senior Section the unique opportunity to provide in-unit sessions on issues that affect girls and young women.
  • Raise your voice - Girlguiding is passionate about giving girls a voice. As a member of The Senior Section, you could join our delegation at the British Youth Council, or shape Girlguiding's own policy and research as part of our fantastic Advocate panel.
  • Travel the world - from working on a development project in a remote village, to representing UK guiding at an international conference, you'll have the chance to take on some life-changing international adventures.

Members of The Senior Section follow the Look Wider programme. It has eight themes - called 'octants' - which cover everything from fitness and independent living to the arts and community action.
