Little Leaders Childcare, Ipswich

Pre-School Playgroup
General Details

We are a friendly, enthusiastic setting which offers the wow factor to all children who attend. The setting is taking part in the Curiosity Approach accreditation to be the first one to complete this in Ipswich. It is set up to have different areas of provision for children to enable the maximum learning potential through play. There is a large outdoor play area, and has a free flow feeling. All staff have at least a Level 3 qualification in childcare and have currents dbs, first aid and safeguarding training. We believe in a high adult to child ratio to ensure the children are getting the best out of their time with us.

Notes

We have been recommended on more than one occasion as a great setting to cater for children that have additional needs or have English as an additional language. We offer makaton, pecs and picture choices to all children in our setting. This is an important option to us as it enables all children to be equal. We also offer setting to home communication books for younger children and children with additional needs. We are taking part in The Curiosity Approach accreditation, to point out our excellent practice and working with natural resources and Loose parts.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Our belief is that our setting can cater for any child regardless of their additional needs. We strive to ensure that we alter our setting/practice where ever possible to enable inclusion to all. Our setting has low level displays and tables for easier access. We are a setting with one large room offering good areas of free space for children to negotiate around safely. We have suitable seating to offer extra support and use lots of different ways of communicating in the setting everyday with all children. We offer good parent partnership working using communication books and regular meetings as well as always being on hand for a quick chat if needed. We have two trainied SENCo's and many of our staff have been on training courses for autism, pecs, makaton, speech and language and behaviour. Our SENCo's have extra training in, and offer the Wellcom speech and language package and a social skills package. In our setting we use Makaton daily throughout the setting as well as choice boards and timelines. We have work stations, pecs books and sensory areas set up ready for use when needed and talking tents and talking games used always to encourage children.
