West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds

Adult education and leisure learning has been offered from our main campus in Bury for over two decades. Making use of the excellent and varied facilities, we offer a diverse range of courses from pottery to an introduction to psychology.

In addition to full-time, part-time and Adult Education, we have a large contract for Apprenticeships. We are a member of University Campus Suffolk and provide full and part-time degree courses.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

SEND support available for Higher Education students 

A DSA Advisor who supports students with the DSA application process and putting reasonable adjustment agreements in place. 

A Personal Support Tutor who primarily advises students on pastoral and welfare issues, but works very closely with students and other support workers as someone with a holistic view of the student's circumstances. 

An HE Learning Mentor who offers group workshops and 1:1 support for academic and study skills. They have / are currently undertaking qualifications to qualify to offer specialist support for SEND students.

Outside of this HE specific offer, students also have access to the Welfare team in the College, who are able to support when needed (for example with counselling appointments etc).
