Childrens Continence Nursing Service (East Coast Community Healthcare CIC)

This is a service across Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group (HealthEast). Anyone can be referred to the service usually from the age 4 years up for a continence assessment with a confirmed need.

It aims to provide a local, accessible service to reduce the incidence of bladder and bowel dysfunction by the provision of comprehensive and effective assessment, treatment, advice and review, The service aims to promote toilet training and where possible to achieve full continence.

Clinics are held in several sites around the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. Children are usually offered an appointment at Newberry Clinic Gorleston.

An assessment will be completed by a qualified practitioner and a plan of care developed to meet the identified needs. Care and Support may relate to: Toileting, supply of prescription continence products, day and night-time wetting, constipation, soiling and general advice and information.

Children/young people will be reassessed based on their clinical need. All those receiving the home delivery pad service will be reviewed each year.
