Support for people with disabilities
- Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities
Our setting is fully accessible to children and parents of all abilities, with level access into the building along a private path from the public path. The setting is all on one level.
We have 4 qualified practitioners trained in Special Educational Needs - who would undertake any additional training to help meet the individual needs of children.
We support all children through individual planning and Individual Care plans if and when required.
All of the staff in the setting have been trained in Makaton therefore it is used widely throughout the daily routine and sessions.
We work closely with professionals to ensure that all specific needs are met and any delays that are recognised are addressed and supported correctly to ensure that all children are able to reach their full potential.
At The Children's Triangle Nursery we support children with SEND by providing support to these children from staff who have received the following training:
1. SENDCo Training
3. Makaton
6. Observing and Assessing Children 0-5years
7. Supporting children and families with English as an Additional Language
9. A positive approach to behaviour
11. Autistic Spectrum Disorder in the Early Years
12. Supporting a hearing impaired child
13. Up and down, round and round - Patterns in Play
Our named SENDCo is Emma Tredray. The SENDCo's role is to supports staff in writing IEP's for children, carrying out the targets, helping all staff to identify and support and meet the needs of the children. We use an inclusive approach to SEND, incorporating all children into the room. This can mean a variety of different things to different children, including adapting our room and routines where needed.
