Mulberry Bush Nursery (Holiday Club)

Holiday Scheme
General Details

The Holiday Club is run from its own marquee in the secure nursery grounds during the summer months and situated within the nursery building the remainder of the year. It is open to children from 5-11 years. We can offer flexible sessions for children throughout the day from 7:45am to 6:00pm.

All of our staff are highly qualified with a minimum Level 3 qualification as well as holding their Food Hygiene, First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificates.

During the holidays time is spent on art projects, science experiments, days out, walks and sports events along with everyday activities such as lego building, board games, play station, cooking, drawing and colouring to name a few.

During the better weather we have a large outside area with slides, bikes, sandpits and room to play football and other sports activities.

Everything the children do in holiday club is through choice. No one is made to take part in anything they do not want to,(except the trips we like all holiday club children to participate) Some children like to take part in structured activities and others prefer to play. We provide plenty of choices to keep everyone happy.

The nursery provides freshly cooked, homemade, nutritious meals on a 5 weekly rolling menu.

We also run an After School Club, collecting children from both Mellis CEVCP School and St Peter and St Paul CE Primary School and return to nursery to look after, offering a variety of fun and age appropriate activities.  we aim to provide them with a fun and exciting setting within a safe and welcoming environment.

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Our nurseries special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) and Deputy SENCO hold level 4 qualifications in childcare along with Key SEND training.

A number of our staff are qualified to level 2 in Makaton signing and 1 member to level 4 using Makaton signing within story and song time along with everyday care routine eg drink, toilet.

We appreciate that every child is unique and will develop at their own rate, with their own style of learning. With our thorough settling in process we aim to ensure that all children will quickly feel secure and at home within their new environment, however we do appreciate that the time it takes a child to settle in will vary. You will always be fully involved within your child’s life at The Mulberry Bush. You will have completed a variety of care forms which will give us a greater insight of your child’s likes and dislikes.

We will always work with you to support your child together. our nursery SENCO will be able to meet with you and agree what together we feel is the best care plan for your child. This may include an Individual Education Plan (I.E.P), where short and long term SMART targets are planned. Or if these are in place at your school we will implement any actions required to help your child develop and be included.
