As the Home Manager, I have a qualified nursing background after starting my training in 1982 at Ipswich hospital where I then worked on their medical wards as a Staff Nurse. Following getting married and starting a family I returned to work as a Staff Nurse in 1992 to work in care homes progressing from part-time to full-time and then being promoted to a Deputy Nurse position.
In 2007 I undertook my first home management position running a 25 bed nursing home. After gaining invaluable experience I went on from there to manage a dementia specialist care home with 43 bedrooms. Both these roles helped in my development, experience and knowledge resulting in me having over 11 years of involvement in managing Nursing, Residential and Dementia homes.
Over the years care homes have changed, but my passion and emphasis has always been on the care and quality of life of the residents within my home. Supporting and developing the team around me is also something that is important to me, as this enhances the residents lives and drives outstanding care so they can have the most fulfilled lives possible.
I enjoy all aspects of managing a care home and work continually to maintain all aspects of care to the highest standards, while supporting my staff in line with the Caring Homes ethos.

How we ensure the wellbeing of our residents
Cotman Care Home is our residents’ homes, and we never lose sight of that. Our home is light and spacious, with a welcoming atmosphere and great links to the local community.
We have an open visiting policy at Cotman House Care Home, so friends and family may visit residents at the times which are most convenient for them.
It is quietly situated, with plenty of unrestricted free parking outside. We are conveniently located within easy level walking distance of all the amenities in the town centre – including a post office, shops, library, community centre and bus routes. We are also within easy reach of all the town’s medical facilities – with four different GP practices, a local general hospital and minor injuries unit.
Cotman House Care Home is named after the well-known and prolific architect Thomas W. Cotman (1847-1925) who designed many of the most famous buildings in Felixstowe. His works include the Railway Station, Harvest House (Felix Hotel), the Orwell and Bath Hotels, both Barclays and Lloyds Banks – plus many others.
Thomas Cotman also designed and lived in the original bungalow that forms the lower two floors of Cotman Lodge. He was the nephew of John Sell Cotman, the famous Norwich water-colour artist.
