Martlesham Preschool has been around for over 30 years, and you can find us in a brightly coloured building at the end of Deben Ave, Martlesham. The preschool is run by a voluntary committee which work very closely with the Manager and Business Manager. We have a manager, Sarah, a deputy manager, Danielle, a senior Early Years Practitioner, Paige and a small team of Early Years Practitioners, as well as couple of Bank staff members. We run each session with a high staff to child ratio. Our staff have fantastic parent partnership relationships which as a setting feel this is incredibly important to work together to provide the best possible outcomes for children and their families.

Inclusion policy: We have multicultural posters, pictures & dual language notices. Children have many inclusive resources for play. We have multicultural dolls, books, dressing-up outfits & puppets. We find out from parents any dietary requirements, allergies and health needs before their child starts.

Our Building is split into a TODDLER ROOM and a PRESCHOOL ROOM. Both rooms are provide age appropriate resources which are exciting, engaging and spark curiosity and interest. We are currently asking parents/carers to provide a snack on sessions, we provide milk and water throughout the sessions. We are a NUT FREE preschool!

Toddler room: Our Toddler room is run by our Senior, Paige. Paige and team offer a wonderful nurturing, inviting and wonderful space. The staff get to know each Toddler individually and provides activities, resources and a stimulating environment for our Toddlers. This term toddlers are taking part in Little explorers club where they explore the local community, Gardening club and cooking club.

Preschool room: Our preschool room is run by our deputy manager, Danielle. Danielle and team offer a fun, exciting and stimulating and unique experience in our preschool room. The children are always super busy and there are so many exciting resources and activities to spark imagination and curiosity. This term our Pre-schoolers are taking part in Little performers and Yoga.

Garden:

We have a garden with a lovely canopy for shelter. We have a grass area and a patio area. Our garden is set up each day to meet the needs of the children. The garden is currently used separately for Toddlers and Preschool due to COVID-19. The garden gas a wonderful mud kitchen, bikes, sand and water, sensory play, a marvelous big hotel and fairy garden plus MUCH MORE!

At the end of each term we organise an end of term party, as well as the school leavers having a graduation. . We also organise other visits further afield, ie. Jimmy’s Farm, Baylham Rare Breeds, Easton Farm Park, Play2Day, Rendlesham Forest or time at the beach. Our fund-raising team organises many events throughout the year, eg. Our successful fun day, pamper evenings, and getting the children to create calendars, tile handprints, place mats for sale. We are a very friendly, supportive and experienced preschool!

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

We provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential.  We have regard for the DfES Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2001 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Equality Act 2010).  We include all children who attend the setting in our provision.  We provide high skilled practitioners to support children with special educational needs/disabilities.  We identify the specific needs of children with SEN/disabilities & meet those needs through using a range of strategies.  We work in partnership with parents & other agencies in meeting individual children's needs.  We monitor & review our practice & provision and if necessary make adjustments.  The name of our SENCO is Sarah Baldwin & she has completed the Suffolk Accredited SENCo training as well as modules within her BA (hons) degree in Early Childhood Studies to support children with additional needs.
