Horringer Pre-School

Preschool

Horringer Pre-school is a charity organisation, it is by a very proactive and dedicated team of staff, trustees and committee members. who work closely together to deliver high-quality care in a warm and welcoming environment. The team fundraised for 3 years and successfully designed and installed a brand new modern community building to house the preschool in September 2020. The building boasts an entrance out into a Copse where children can experience nature on their doorstep daily with bridges, banks, mud kitchen, mini beast hotel and balancing equipment to name just a few of the learning delights.

Parent Partnership is high profile and we like you to be really involved with your child's progress whilst they are at Horringer Pre-school, we gather as much information as possible on entry and utilise it well. Each child has their own Key Person who will ensure that your child is comfortable, happy and secure at our preschool. An online E-Learning Journal is compiled for all children in the setting, which includes observations, photos and how we plan for your child’s interests and progress their learning and development in the seven areas of learning.

We work together with parents to help children if English is not their first language. On our enrollment forms, you will be asked to fill in information on your nationality, beliefs, culture and faith. All staff pride themselves on being positive role models helping to create an inclusive environment for all children and families. Children have the option to wear uniform with our squirrel logo on, helping to form a strong sense of belonging.

We have a strong settling in process tailored to each family. We provide strong lines of communication over the telephone, email as well as face to face at drop off and collection times.

Children enjoy a creative range of adult-led and child-initiated activities throughout the session, both indoors and out in our garden area. Our play areas are zoned, along with tabletop and floor activities along with a brand new sensory room overlooking our Copse. Play and learning is tailored to children's needs and current interests and we have high regard for the wellbeing of our families. Time is taken to focus on bonding and creating secure relationships, which create smooth daily transitions into preschool for all families.

Support for people with disabilities

Experience of including people with special educational needs and disabilities

Horringer Pre-school aims to provide an environment inclusive to all children.  We are committed to ensuring that all children are given equal opportunities and the tailored support needed to achieve their full potential.

We ensure that there is a smooth transition from home or setting to our setting, we do this by providing opportunities for parents and carers to visit our setting and we can also provide home visits. We build on previous knowledge of the child and find out about the best practice for that child.

We will always consult with parents if we feel a child is having difficulties. We work closely with parents/carers and outside agencies and prepare an action plan to ensure that their child can access all areas of the curriculum.

We monitor speech and language development and work with Speech and Language Centre’s to try to get early support for their children in our care.
