We're limiting numbers throughout the indoor areas of the site and asking everyone to give other visitors, and our team, plenty of space. Please note that you may have to queue before entering indoor areas.

It’s voluntary – but it’s very helpful to the NHS Test and Trace programme if you agree. Your details will be securely destroyed after 21 days and not used for any other purpose.

Awe-inspiring Anglo-Saxon royal burial site. This hauntingly beautiful 255 acre estate, with far-reaching views over the river Deben, is home to one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.
Walk around the Royal Burial Ground and discover the incredible story of the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king and his treasured possessions. Come face to face with your ancestors and explore our High Hall exhibition with stunning replica treasures and some original finds from one of the mounds, including a prince's sword. Visit Tranmer House to delve into the story of archaeology at Sutton Hoo and some of the characters involved, or enjoy the beautiful seasonal colours on our estate walks.
Sutton Hoo will be moving to winter opening hours on November 9th. The estate walks will be open every day. There will be no need to pre-book. Car park machines will be in operation. Members can scan their membership cards for free parking. If you are not a National Trust member PayByPhone will be in operation. The café and second-hand bookshop will be open Wednesday – Sunday (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). To avoid disappointment, booking is essential at weekends when Tranmer House, the High Hall exhibition and shop are open. See website for more information and updates.
